Biography[]
He was the protege of Jim Phelps and succeeded him upon Phelps' retirement. As his activities became too much of a threat to a certain criminal mastermind, assassin Matthew Drake was hired to eliminate Copperfield and shot him with a hallucinogenic dart, which made Copperfield believe his body was covered in flames and throw himself off a balcony to his death. This event prompted Phelps to return to the IMF.
